A-Z of Topic-Led Dance
I aim to put all the resources I and, my now retired colleague, Jean McCracken have developed for topic approaches to dance
i.e. lesson plans, activity/task and stimilus cards as well as suggested music for each of the topics
A lot of these were developed alongside classroom teachers or using the stimulus from top dance or the Borders dance pack.

Africa - tribes, animals, geographical surfaces
Animals - how they move, patterns they make, shapes they make, noises they make, courtship dances etc
American Indians - The Dream Catchers, circle of Life
Australia - famous buildings and cities, landscapes, the great barrier reef (sea life)
Circus - the people, the entertainers, the animals, the acts, the crowds, the Big Tents, the danger,
Football - the skills of the players, the movement patterns on the pitch, the celebration of scoring, the excitement of disappointment of the crowd,
Greek Mythology and the gods - the symbols, the roles they played, the wars they won and lost, the stories that evolved
Japan - the martial arts such as Judo, karate, Kempo, the buildings, the technology, the culture, the music, the history
Jungle - the animals, the plants and vegetation, the changing environment, the hardship, the weather, the danger, the beauty.
Scotland - to include: The Industry we have; the Language we use; Katie Morag; Our Inventions; Scottish Country Dance; Highland Dance;
Sea life or Ocean Motion - the creatures and their habitats, poems and songs, ships and weather, sailors and fishing villages, lighthouses,
Space - robots; the planets; Wall-e the movie; Extra Terrestrials; Star Wars; Space exploration
Sports - the movement pattern of the skills and game play, the reaction of the players/athletes, the winning and the losing, the reaction of the crowd, the famous tunes and songs, the celebrations, the recieving of the medals/trophies etc
Transport - different types of transport, how it moves, the shapes and levels whilst they move, a busy street, a country road, a traffic jam, the emotions, etc
Toys - different toys and the movements they make, cars, dolls, spinning tops, soldiers, slinky dogs; can be based on any of the TOY STORY movies
Weather - weather reports, cbeebies weather dances,
and much more.........
